Can Corporates Learn From Pro Sport?
Most sports now incorporate some kind of mentoring in their outreach programs, and Middlesex Cricket Club is no exception.
In 2023, the club introduced their first mentoring program for female coaches, with 15 candidates taking part, as well as an open CPD (Continual Learning Development) Event with Middlesex Wicketkeepers. The program will continue and be expanded in 2024.
As well as the mentoring programme, which was launched last week, the club is now also offering the opportunity to all members of the Middlesex coaching community, who are members of the ECB Coaches Association, to shadow coaches throughout the Middlesex programme.
Sharon Eyers, Middlesex Cricket’s Head of Coach Education and Development, said: “It’s so important as coaches to keep updating our knowledge to keep pace with the fast changing landscape of cricket. In recent years we have seen new formats of the game introduced which has encouraged players to adapt and play differently, which means as coaches we need to adapt our thinking so that we can support our players.
Pro sports is a tough and unforgiving world, where only the most ambitious and forward thinking teams win.
Can your organisation learn from this and succeed as well?
